Membership Census
Interested in Moving to North Dakota or Wyoming?

By Roger S. Brody

Members willing to move to North Dakota or Wyoming would help us boast that we are truly the United States Stamp Society.  At the end of July, members and those pending membership totaled 1877.  Geographically speaking our members reside in 48 of our 50 states, the District of Columbia and eight foreign nations.  Three members correspond through military APO addresses.  Only the states of North Dakota and Wyoming are lacking a member.  Both states offer incredible natural beauty and at night you can see all the stars and the Milky Way.  Is anyone interested? It is not surprising that California and New York lead the list with the highest numbers of members.  The demographics of our membership usually mirror the nation's population statistics.  The primary reason for changing the Society name was to recognize the change in the production sources of our nation's stamps.  It is also hoped that the new name will attract a broader spectrum of collectors interested in United States postage and revenue stamps.  Time will test this theory and we will publish this census periodically.  A table of the membership demographics is printed below.
