NOW AVAILABLE - Exhibits on CD-ROM

The Exhibition Photocopy Service that many USSS members have taken advantage of has expanded by offering select exhibits on CD-ROM.  This is a dream come true for all of our computer-savvy members (and when I say "savvy," I mean anyone who can operate a mouse).  All that is required is Acrobat Reader, which is available as a free download from Adobe.  The CDs will feature full color PDFs that are indexed and thumbnailed for easy navigating.

Our goal in providing these (and hopefully many more) exhibits on CD is many-fold: some will use these CDs to improve their own exhibits, some may start collecting a specialty or start exhibiting because of them, and some may just view them for the sheer joy of eyeing a wonderfully assembled collection.  We urge all exhibitors that have earned a Vermeil or higher at a national show, to consider making their exhibits available to our members in this new format.

All requests for CDs should go to Robert Toth at the address above.  They will also be available at major shows where USSS has a table.

If you have an exhibit that you are interested in making available to the Society, please contact Frank Braithwaite by e-mail or at 631-265-4307 to make arrangements.

2007 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a committee of two.  Our responsibilities are for exhibit photocopies and CDs.  Frank Braithwaite assembles the CDs while I handle the photocopies and the mailing.  We are always looking for more exhibits to add to the USSS listing, preferably in both formats.  The listing is included in each issue of The Specialist.  We have noticed many fine U.S. exhibits coming up for auction or private sale.  Those in our area of expertise would be a welcome addition to our listing.  Let Frank or me know who to contact prior to the disposition.

For the period April 23, 2006 through March 26, 2007, we have provided the following:
 Orders Processed 18
 Exhibit Photocopies Mailed 16
 CDs Mailed 14
 Value of Orders $458.00

2006 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This committee of one has recently become a committee of two. Our responsibilities are now for exhibit photocopies and CDs. Frank Braithwaite assembles the CDs, while I continue to handle the photocopies and the mailing. We are always looking for more exhibits to add to the USSS listing, preferably in both formats. The listing is included in each issue of The Specialist.

Orders for photocopies have been decreasing for the last few years, in part due to the lack of new titles. With the addition of the CD option, interest has increased over the last few months. As more titles are added, this service will become more valuable for our membership. For the period May 16, 2005 through April 22, 2006, we have provided the following:
 Orders Processed 27
 Exhibit Photocopies Mailed 22
 CDs Mailed 16
 Value of Orders $416.00

2005 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a committee of one, but I can always call on my wife to lend a hand when the need arises. In addition to the processing of orders, our other committee functions include maintenance of the available exhibits list in our journal, responding to telephone, mail and email requests other than orders, mailing of receipts and bills to the USSS Treasurer, and encouraging qualified exhibitors to submit a master photocopy of their exhibits to the committee for inclusion on the list.

For the period May 10, 2004 through May 15, 2005, we have provided the following:
 Orders Processed 23
 Exhibit Photocopies Mailed 36
 Value of Orders $569.61

The number of orders is still very gratifying, since most of the orders are coming from new members. To those few members who have submitted exhibits, my sincere thanks. If you are an exhibitor, or have exhibited before and still have your exhibit intact, please contact me and we can discuss the criteria and procedure. If your exhibit is to be sold or up for auction, make a master copy so that the exhibit can be added to the list before it's too late. A Society of our size can surely come up with a much larger list of available exhibits.

This is a committee of one, but I can always call on my wife to lend a hand when the need arises.  In addition to the processing of orders, our other committee functions include maintenance of the available exhibits list in our journal, responding to telephone, mail and email requests other than orders and encouraging qualified exhibitors to submit a master photocopy of their exhibits to the committee for inclusion on the list.

For the period September, 2002 through October 21, 2003, we have provided the following:
 Orders Processed 39
 Exhibit Photocopies Mailed 58
 Value of Orders $992.50

We now have thirteen exhibits to offer our members, an increase of three from my last report.  The number of orders is still very gratifying since most of the orders are coming from new members.  As I continually mention to all who listen, "We need more exhibits." To those few members who are participating, my sincere thanks.  If you are an exhibitor, or have exhibited before and still have your exhibit intact, please contact me and we can discuss the criteria and procedure.

Since January 1, 2001, we have provided the following:
 Orders Processed 59
 Exhibit Photocopies Mailed 90
 Value of Orders $1337.00

Considering that we have only ten exhibits to offer our members, this number of orders is very gratifying.  As I continually mention to all who listen, "We need more exhibits."  To those few members who are participating, my sincere thanks.  If you are an exhibitor, or have exhibited before and still have your exhibit intact, please contact me and we can discuss the criteria and procedure for making copies of your exhibit available.  A society of our size can surely come up with a much larger list of available exhibits.

2001 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a committee of one that makes available photocopies of qualified exhibits.  Since starting in July, 2000, five exhibits have been available (to the first of the year); to date (December, 2000), 29 orders for 50 exhibits with receipts of $640 have been received.

Our Study Groups and Committees are encouraged to submit qualified exhibits to the Exhibition Photocopy Committee.  Qualifying exhibits will have received a vermeil award or higher in at least one national exhibition.
