2007 Annual Meeting at TEXPEX

January 13th, 2007

Just a reminder to start making plans to attend our next Annual Meeting, which be held at TEXPEX in Dallas, Texas during the weekend of April 13 to 15, 2007. The venue for the show will be the DoubleTree Hotel Dallas located near the Galleria.

Since my message last month, I have been informed that the show committee has submitted the following proposed Jury to the Committee on Accreditation of National Exhibitions and Judges (CANEJ) for approval: Tim Bartshe (Chief Judge), Jim Kotanchik, Tony Wawrukiewicz, Jeff Swift, and Tim Burgess. This is a well-rounded group with a good background in judging U.S. material. If you intend to exhibit at the show, I’d urge you to submit your application now since the frames may fill up early. The Prospectus and Application can be found on the TEXPEX website which we have linked to our website under “Meetings & Events.” You can also obtain copies by writing to Dick Phelps, P.O. Box 867373, Plano, TX 75086-7373.

As is our tradition, we will have an annual Fellowship Dinner on Friday night, April 13th. Although the site hasn’t been selected yet, this get together always proves to be one of the highlights of the show and you should pencil it in on your show schedule. The Board of Governors will meet Saturday morning and the General Membership Meeting will be held that afternoon. If any of the committees or study groups would like to hold a meeting or make a presentation at the show, please let me know so I can schedule it with the show committee. I will keep you updated as we finalize the times and locations of the events.

Dues for 2007 are $25.00 when paid after December 31st. While most members have paid their dues, several members have not. Please renew ASAP as it costs the Society money to send out reminder notices. More importantly, we really don’t want to lose you as members. So if you have set aside your dues notice, please pull it out and mail it along with your dues today.
