2021 Annual Meeting at NOJEX
I hope everyone is well and that your hobby has helped to reduce some of the stress of this past year. The good news is that as the vaccines are becoming more widely available and states are beginning to relax various restrictions related to group gatherings, the NOJEX committee has announced that they, together with the ASDA, are moving ahead with plans to hold the show during the weekend of October 15 to 17, 2021. Therefore, we will also begin to plan for our 2021 Annual Meeting at the show.
The show will be held at the Meadowlands Hilton Hotel at 2 Meadowlands Plaza, East Rutherford, New Jersey, and there will be a special NOJEX room rate of $149 plus tax per night. However, the hotel will not begin to accept reservations until July. As soon as the hotel opens up the reservation process, we and NOJEX will post the information on our websites.
The Exhibit Prospectus and Application are posted on the show website at www.nojex.org. Applications are being accepted now with the understanding that should circumstances cause the show to be canceled, all exhibit fees will be promptly refunded. I’d suggest submitting your application as soon as possible. With the cancellation of so many shows last year there is a pent up demand by exhibitors for venues at which to show their work. In addition, inasmuch as this is our annual show meeting, exhibiting members will be able to compete for our two Society exhibiting awards – The Southgate for the best multi-frame exhibit and The Cleland, for the best single frame exhibit. Although there will be approximately 225 available frames, I expect they will be reserved very quickly.
As is our tradition, we will be holding our Dutch Treat Fellowship Dinner on Friday evening, the first night of the show, at a site to be determined. I will let you know the details of this as well as other show particulars as they become available. In the meantime, if you would like to give a presentation at the show and/or would be willing to volunteer some time to help staff our Society booth, please let me know. Let’s all hope that this is another step in our return to normal.
