Research Paper #05 - Printing History of Washington-Franklin 3¢-$5 Denominations
This Research Paper lists the printing periods for each plate, and also lists the sets of plates
that were at press together for each printing period. The data come from the plate vault
records of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The coverage is all denominations from 3¢
up to $5, and includes all flat plates used for sheet stamps and booklet panes, and rotary ones
used for coils. Offset plates are not included, since these plates normally went to press only
once and the dates are listed in the B.I.A. Plate Number Checklist for plates 1-20,000. The
coverage is from 1908 to 1923. Includes coils and booklets but not offset issues. 66 pages.
