The United States Stamp Society has partnered with the Smithsonian National Postal Museum to support scholarly research through the creation of a research funding project.
The NPM – USSS Research Fund was created for scholarly research of United States postage and/or revenue stamps or postal history leading to publication. Funding will consist of a five year commitment of $2,500 per year. The program will be administered by the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. Applications for funding will be reviewed by an Awards Committee, responsible for selecting the awardee. The committee will be comprised of two members of the USSS and the NPM Winton M. Blount Chair in Research. The researcher’s final product (article, presentation, web exhibit, etc.), to be defined by the USSS, will be reviewed by NPM and the USSS. The USSS will have the first right of refusal for publishing the work in The United States Specialist and/or on our website.
The NPM will be accepting applications on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year..
We encourage Society members to consider taking advantage of this opportunity to engage in research utilizing the resources of the National Postal Museum. Additional information and scholarship applications may be found on the NPM website at:
