The 1903 Two Cent Washington Shield Issue

The first section of this exhibit will trace the evolution of the Washington Shield stamp and show its various die types, color shades, and formats. The next sections will demonstrate a wide variety of domestic and UPU rates and uses. The final section shows how the design was adopted for test stamp use as well as the special reprinting of the Shield stamp seven years after it had been replaced.
