They can be caused by: the gap where tagging plates butt together; screws and clips used to hold tagging mats to their cylinders; the scraping action of perforating wheels and guides; scratches and foreign matter on the tagging plates or rollers; cleaning solvent residue on the tagging rollers; etc.
