“AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY.” in colored letters with shading to the lower right. The imprint is centered in top or bottom margin and covers only two stamps.
“No.” followed by the plate number are in colored italics and similar in size to those of imprints B2 and B3, but smaller than those on imprint E2. The plate number follows
the imprint in TL and BL positions, and precedes it in TR and BR positions, except on Special Delivery plates, where it always follows the imprint.
Used on plates 31-481, plus 488, 489,495,496,552 of the 1879 issues, plus plate numbers 21-025, 72, 73 of the 1890 issues. In addition, the bottom positions
of plates between 483 and 723 with imprint F1 in the top margin are imprint F (i.e., the serial letter was placed in the top margin only on the banknote issues).

Imprint centered in top and bottom margins, but with no accompanying plate number. Used on Newspaper plates.

The imprint is the same as E1, but the plate numbers are in large italics and the same size as “No.” Used on plates 1 and from 219 to at least 291 (except for two Newspaper plates).

“PRINTED BY THE” on one line, and “CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE CO. NEW YORK” on the line beneath it, with both white letters on a colored tablet.
The imprints on regular stamps and on 200 subject plates of Officials are centered in top or bottom margins of a pane of 100, with the plate number following
the imprint in TL and BL positions, and preceding it in TR and BR positions. On 100 subject Official plates, the imprint is over stamps 2 and 3, or under 92 and 93,
and the plate number follows the imprint, centered in the margin. The plate numbers themselves are solid block colored numbers about half the height as the No.”
Used on plates 2-193 plus later plates 22-310.

Plate numbers and placements similar to imprint B2. This imprint is found on the same plate as imprint B2, but is different positions
(on plate 44, the BL position is imprint B3 and the BR position imprint B2). Used on later plates of the 1870 regular issue and #R152 and #RB11-#RB17.
