Bureau of Engraving and Printing
a division of the U.S. Treasury Department with production facilities in Washington, D.C. producing almost all <#stamp=stamps> from 1894 through the 1960s. Since 1967 the BEP shared the production of stamps with a wide variety of private companies. Production of stamps by the BEP ended in 2005.
